Limits

What this map cannot claim, said before the reader asks.

About what the map is

  • It is not a vulnerability assessment of any company. Nothing was scanned, probed, or touched. Everything comes from public or already-indexed data, aggregated to the sector level. It does not say a named company is vulnerable, or where.
  • It is not a target list, by design. The repository rule forbids publishing the operator → host or IP → port tuple, and an automated check enforces it on every build.
  • It does not prove an attack would cause an outage. The structure and impact layers rank nodes by structural criticality; the physical redundancy, storage, and alternate routes that would cushion a real loss are not modeled.

Each layer carries its own limits block; here is what remains when you look at the whole.

  • The gas network is a fixed-date photo (September 30, 2025) and does not include the newest transmission segments (the reversal and expansion around Perito Moreno / ex-GPNK). Neither the reversibility of those segments, nor linepack, nor import routes enter the impact model, and all would cushion the loss of a node (see structure and impact).
  • The exposure is a sample of 21 operators and reflects their public web presence, which may differ from the rest of their infrastructure and change from one day to the next. The industrial-ports sub-layer stays unloaded, because of the paywall on the count that matters (see exposure).
  • The night lights light up what shines, not what exists, and the composite is annual (see activity).
  • The incidents are the publicly documented ones: lack of trace does not prove it did not happen (see incidents).

About governance

  • The who-responds graph is a model of relationships, not the current org chart of any entity, nor a table already constituted, nor a formal invitation to the operators it names.

The underlying honesty

This map does not prove the Argentine energy sector is about to suffer an incident. It proves that its attack surface is large, public, and today inventoried by no one on the defender's side, while on the attacker's side it is already in use: the 14 incidents in the register confirm it. The map's value is having put in one place, with a reproducible method, what was scattered.
